Is Being Merely Anti-Pro-Israel, Anti-Semitic? W/Poll

Sun Jan 15, 2006 at 05:28:04 PM PDT

As many of you know, I happen to believe there are special-interest lobby groups that more or less run our government.

I believe one of those groups is the pro-Israel lobby. Much of that lobby is what I would call 'fundamentalist jews.' Some would call them 'extremists' instead. But the idea isn't so much for me about their sect or adherence to certain texts... so much as it would be about their stance on the issue of Israel, obviously.

That said, I think the stance on Israel is how I would point out the kinds of jews I think are a problematic special interest group in America in 2006, much like evangelical pro-lifers for example. The question eventually becomes, how far will they go for that special interest?

I just don't personally feel that Israel is worth our kids getting bombed for. And I think most Americans would agree with me if they saw it that way. Now, maybe they don't. But seeing as how Osama said that's a big part of the reason he attacked us... I think they probably should. (And please don't give me semantics about not 'believing Osama.' Our ties to Israel have killed too many people and we all know it.)

Drug Benefits Denied. "Public Health Crisis"

Sat Jan 14, 2006 at 01:55:21 AM PDT

Nice work Bush.

Nice New Drug Plan.... real nice. Typical Republican legislation though, screw the poor to pay their friends. When will people learn? Ever? Abortion? Y'all values-voting seniors better worry about your heart medication.

Medicare's new prescription-drug program is causing thousands of low-income seniors and disabled Americans to lose their drug benefits, prompting at least 14 states to pay for their prescriptions.

An Argument for a Smaller Tent W/Poll

Fri Jan 13, 2006 at 12:18:35 AM PDT

I used to think that a big tent was good strategy. But the following questions what happens when the tent lets in unabashed DINOS. While many might assume that the more the merrier makes sense... strategically, in times of neo-fascism, it can be very dangerous in our system of so-called democracy. With Alito's nomination, Ben Nelson may very well solidify a neo-fascist, neo-fuedal, neo-con corporatocracy in America for 50 years.

So, the following is an argument for a smaller, more unified and agile, warmblooded tent... in the face of our current enemy, is this adaptation? Well, it's a way of securing unity. I think that we need to adopt a different policy with the rural states. I think we need to, as a party, put up moderate or even Progressive Democrats ONLY; even if there's someone more likely to win. It's what has become necessary.

Alito: All Kossacks Must Cancel their Cable TV. Today.

Thu Jan 12, 2006 at 10:34:08 AM PDT

The traditional media is really in it up to their necks this time. They've joined the right wingers on this campaign to divert attention from Alito's frightening record by collaborating in this staged crying incident.

Every dollar we Kossacks spend on cable tv... every penny we contribute to traditional media is being used to destroy this country for our children.

It is my opinion that any Kossack with integrity must call their cable provider (hopefully Comcast) and cancel their subscription... today. And you of course need to tell the phone operator why.

Punishment Park. Could it happen to Americans?

Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 11:42:16 AM PDT

Has it already?

Does it happen just about everyday in America to Mexican immigrants?

I rented a great movie at Hollywood video the other day here in L.A.

I can't guarantee it's available everywhere. With our movie buffs here in L.A., we get better movies I think...

Anyway, check it out if you can get ahold of it.

It's by Peter Watkins from the early 70's.

Zawahri Claims Victory: "Bush Lost Iraq War."

Fri Jan 06, 2006 at 11:45:14 AM PDT

Al Qaeda's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri said in a video aired on Friday that U.S. President George W. Bush's plans to withdraw troops from Iraq meant Washington had been defeated by the Muslims.

And this is of course the problem with Republicans and their lost Wars.

They make the U.S. look weak. Thanks Bush... for another lost Republican war.

Dan Brown's Conveniently Prognostic Book on NSA Spying. W/Poll

Sat Dec 31, 2005 at 12:54:41 PM PDT

So. What are the unwashed reading these days? What's influencing the opinions of average Americans wrt spying? Dan Brown's "new" book is called Digital Fortress. Is it pre-emptive or just well timed? He copyrighted it back in 98. First publication seems to be before some of his more well known recent books? Seems it's being marketed as his latest. I guess marketing is what matters. More importantly for me though is how it was written. Is it Conservative propaganda... written to muddy the waters wrt Bush's spying... or just a fortuitous prognostication, the result of a gifted mind at work that can see the future unfolding? Is it the result of his personal experience with his students as he claims? Am I paranoid? Damn skippy. And with good reason of course... seeing as how the White House has officially been found guilty of Covert Propaganda. And isn't that our jobs in the digital age, to be paranoid... sans a legitimate fourth estate? I think Brown's argument is actually, "yes." Whatever this book is about, it was obviously formatted to become a second tier John Grisham type movie staring Ashley Judd.

Spying Will End Bush. W/Poll. or "When the POTUS is Trying to Kill Us."

Wed Dec 21, 2005 at 12:16:45 AM PDT

George Bush spied on Quakers... and Vegans... and Gays.

He's a coward; a liar. He's psychotic. He's a man who is endangering the lives of our children through his now blatant disregard for our National Security. How many agents are investigating Vegans... rather than the Islamic militant who's going to suitcase nuke my city? And is that on purpose? Does it mesh 100% with his pre-911 dimsantling of government programs investigating the hijackers? I mean... by his actions, we really must assume he's salivating for another terrorist attack here in the U.S. Praying for it no doubt. Everything he does (or doesn't do) seems to invite it. Yeah, it sucks when your President is trying to kill you... if you happen to live in an urban (ie liberal) area... like New Orleans... or NYC for example.

He was spying on American activist groups. He was wasting the money and manpower we thought he was spending spying on Islamic militants... to monitor Quakers?

Nixon was a Quaker.

:)

And then he tells us our kids are in danger from terrorists... and that's why we need to support him?

Anybody Got a Decent Individual Health Care Plan?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 at 10:27:55 PM PDT

Anybody out there have a good health care plan?

Anybody in California?

I'm health care shopping. Maybe someone's found a decent individual plan out there and can let us all in on the secret. Maybe this diary would be helpul to people in general to discuss how they negotiate the rough seas of health care coverage in America.

4.5 Mill. Age 18-24 Voted Bush in 04. Even 2% in Iraq? W/Poll

Mon Nov 07, 2005 at 10:53:12 PM PDT

4.4 Million Cowards?

Exactly why will we lose the Iraq War? Why can't even just 100,000 Bush voters of age stand up and be men? Or women? I realize not everyone can physically fight... but certainly 2% more can... 4%... give us somethin' to work with people... come on! You can't all be 400 lb. slobs with anal cysts can you? Hmmmm....? So where are they? Yes folks, it's beyond question. I hate to admit it... but we've got a case of 'The Cowards' on our hands here in America.

So why will we lose the Iraq War? Because the Americans who wanted the war and supported the war apparently don't have the personal integrity to actually fight in the war. Big surprise. And that's the problem with Republicans of course. Zero integrity. Zero guts. Zero real beliefs. Republicans have lost this war. All around. Top to bottom of the filthy rotten tree.

ID: 1,000 U.S. Citizens Can't Vote in Phoenix Tuesday w/poll

Sat Nov 05, 2005 at 02:50:29 PM PDT

New voter ID laws in Arizona nearly kept 10,000 people from voting in Phoenix on Tuesday, but for their perserverance. And 1,000 full U.S. citizens still can't vote.

This is a tragic loss for Democracy in our country and Arizonans did it to themselves. When the turnout is low, the GOP wins... because the GOP are the radical Evangelicals and the business owners, who have the time/mental condition to wait in line for hours.

Fact.

As long as the poor and middle classes in America are kept away from the polls, we cannot change the direction of this country. Get real Arizona. Get your bigoted head out of your ass and wake up to what's really going on.

Are You Methodist? Time to Find a New Church.

Tue Nov 01, 2005 at 10:26:06 AM PDT

Are you Methodist?

We were. My family was. But my uncle is bisexual... so my mom and dad left the church a few years ago because of it's bigoted stance on gays and lesbians.

Everyone probably knows that the Methodists have had a pretty intense debate over gays/lesbians in the church. Many Methodists are fairly liberal and sensible. So much so, that Methodists are looked at with some disdain by the Fundamentalist American Taliban crowd.

Well, the Methodist Church has finally decided. And they chose bigotry and hate over love. In my view, no liberal should belong to the Methodist Church any longer. My Texas raised, Indiana-residing parents quit. So why can't you?

Poll

Methodists should leave their church now that it has officially and permanently adopted bigoted anti-gay/lesbian membership regulations.

Who Wants Kamp Kos? Co-Op 'Land Trust' in... Wyoming? W/Poll

Sun Oct 30, 2005 at 07:04:19 PM PDT

Jackson is perhaps the new power center for the wealthy elite. It's also some of the most beautiful and ecologically critical land in America. In response to another Kossak's comment, I thought it might be interesting/ironic to look for some land out in Wyoming... ideally a couple hundred acres of Wind River foothill, wetland, and mountain terrain. I realize the K in the "Kamp Kos" is a bit disconcerting. But just take it with all the irony that Jackson Hole requires... K,K,Karl won't mind. He'll be in prison... in Leavenworth, K,K,Kansas.

Kamp Kos?

Now, how many of y'all out there had a grandpa or an uncle... or even your own mom and dad... who had a cabin by a lake somewhere?

We did. But with the new global Bush economy, only the very fortunate these days seem destined for such things. And what about us urbanites? We need to think of new strategies for vacationing... in this America. I've got precious little time or money for it... yeah, we need new strategies.

What about a Co-op?

Poll

I'd pay $4,000 up front and 1-$200 a year for a lifetime of 5 weeks/yr at a cabin in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming.

Let The Boycotts Begin. List of Rethug Products Not to Buy.

Sat Oct 29, 2005 at 04:06:21 AM PDT

I wanted to make myself a list of Republican donor companies' products so I could avoid buying them. I thought others might find it useful, so here you go. I'll probably print mine out and keep it handy when I'm out "consuming."

BushCo needs to pay.

I think that if Americans have any dignity left, they should start protesting with their wallets... at the very least. I'm going to try not to buy any of the products on this list until the White House is cleaned up and the DeFrist Republicans are out of office.

I recommend that everyone on Kos read through the list and do the same. I hope that this diary (with more input in the 'comments' on other problematic corporations I'm sure) could be used as a resource of sorts for anyone.

Now, it's been documented that corporations who chose to donate to Democrats have suffered in the past 5 years. I'd love to put up a list of pro-Democratic companies. Slim Fast is one... but... I'm thin. Feel free to add some if you like. Christmas is coming. Let's make it a Blue one.

But I figure at least avoiding the products of those who throw in with the Rethugs, that's a start though.

Why Are Nurses Allowed To Say 'No' to Abortion? W/Poll

Thu Oct 27, 2005 at 01:55:08 AM PDT

It's come to my attention from another Kos blogger that nurses apparently have the right to refuse to perform abortions. I don't know if this is true in many states, few states, 2 states, blue states, ... or all states.

Don't even really know how to find out other than posting this diary and asking all y'all nurses what the status is.

I have a few problems with this... tattooed on my extended body.

Majority of Americans Don't Believe We Evolved

Sun Oct 23, 2005 at 07:33:25 PM PDT

A CBS Poll shows that:

51% of Americans don't believe humans evolved from other species and insist that God created humans "as they are."

90% also claim it is possible to believe in both God and Evolution.

I guess the lesson is that Americans can be tolerant... but when it comes down to facts... not for me brother!

If BushCo Outed Plame, They Must Hang. The Case for Execution.

Thu Oct 20, 2005 at 12:53:26 AM PDT

This was a conspiracy to destroy CIA intelligence sources in the Middle East during a Time of War. If the Plame outing is what it seems to be, whoever ends up being caught up in this Treason must be executed.

§ 2381. Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

And just a note to get started. I'm not a lawyer. I'm not in the military. I don't really even know what the actual Law is here. So I may in fact be way off base on the issue of execution. But from a moral standpoint, it seems pretty clear to me.

U.S. Bombs 34 Iraqi Women and Children

More blood on Bush's hands.

More blood on Dick Gephardt's. And all the Dems who lacked the courage to do what they knew was right.

Blood on their hands. The Republicans of course. But I blame all of our leaders... our press... we the people protested... maybe that wasn't enough... so ourselves as well.

Lot's of blood.
